About TATA Indian Premier League (IPL)

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) created the professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league known as the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2007. Ten teams representing some of India's largest cities contest in the TATA IPL, which is structured on a round-robin group and knockout system.

March signals the beginning of a festival of a different kind in India as temperatures rise sharply across the country, bringing with it the prospect of a challenging few months of summer. The TATA IPL 2025 will start in the second-to-last week of March, just as the previous season, which started near the end of March. In the opening game, the reigning champions Kolkata will play Bangalore, a match that served as the turning point for the first Indian Premier League season.

The competition will continue for almost two months, finishing on May 25 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, the same venue where it began. Thirteen stadiums will host the 74 TATA IPL 2025 matches, with two stadiums serving as home venues for Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Additionally, this is the tournament's first year following the 2024 big auction, in which Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were purchased for enormous sums of money. This year, both of them will be seen in the lead roles of new franchises.
